GoodX alternative

Switching from GoodX to NetPractice

GoodX is a South African practice-management suite that covers a wide range of healthcare businesses, from allied-health and GP practices to dental, ophthalmology, hospitals, laboratories and radiology. If you are thinking about leaving it, the useful questions are about scope and pricing model rather than whether claims go through - both products submit claims in real time.

What GoodX says about itself

In GoodX’s own words, from its public website:

  • Describes itself as a "fully web-based, cloud-enabled platform".
  • Advertises "real-time claim submissions", "automated reconciliation" and "integration with health insurers".
  • Lists allied health, dental, general practitioners, group practices, hospitals, labs and radiology, medical bureaus, ophthalmology and specialists among the practice types it serves.
  • Does not publish prices: it refers to "flexible pricing plans designed to suit practices of all sizes".
  • States that it complies with POPIA and is ISO27001.

The real difference is breadth against focus. GoodX is built to serve many kinds of healthcare business, including facilities a private practice never becomes. NetPractice does one job - claims, billing and the practice admin around them - for private practices, and publishes one price for it, so you can work out your monthly cost before you speak to anyone.

When GoodX is the better choice

  • You run a hospital, laboratory or radiology practice - GoodX lists all three, and NetPractice is built for private practices.
  • You need dentistry- or ophthalmology-specific charting and workflow.
  • You want one vendor across several different kinds of facility in a group.

If none of those is you, the rest of this page is how to move without losing money. If you are still choosing, the overview of South African billing software covers the wider market and the five questions that separate the products.

How to switch from GoodX without losing money

Both products run in the browser, so there is nothing to uninstall and no server to retire. The work is the data: ask GoodX for your patient list with medical-scheme details and your outstanding balances, split scheme versus patient, before you give notice.

  1. Export before you give notice

Patient list with contact and medical-scheme details, and outstanding balances split scheme versus patient. CSV or Excel - a PDF is a picture of the data, not the data.

  2. Open NetPractice alongside

Create your account and send new visits from NetPractice. The first 10 claims each month are free.

  3. Let GoodX finish, then close

A claim already submitted cannot move: the scheme replies to the system that sent it. Keep read access until each one is paid, rejected or written off - up to four months for anything disputed - then take a final export and close the account.

The longer version, including what to negotiate on the way out, is in how to switch practice management software.

Frequently asked questions

Is NetPractice an alternative to GoodX?

For a private practice whose main need is getting medical-aid claims paid, yes. Both submit claims to South African schemes in real time and both run in a browser. GoodX covers a wider range of facility types; NetPractice publishes its price - R9.50 per claim with the first 10 each month free - and has no monthly fee or contract.

Does GoodX publish its prices?

Not as at 31 October 2026. Its website refers to flexible pricing plans and invites you to get in touch. Ask for the number in writing, including anything charged per claim, per user or per scheme, so you can compare it with a per-claim price like ours.

Can I try NetPractice before I leave GoodX?

Yes. Create a free account and submit real claims for new visits while GoodX finishes the claims it already sent. The first 10 claims each month are free, so running both for a payment cycle costs little or nothing.
