Pricing

R9.50 a claim. Your first 10 each month are free.

NetPractice costs R9.50 per claim, and your first 10 claims every month are free. There is no monthly subscription, no setup fee, no per-user licence and no contract. A practice submitting 50 claims a month pays R380.00. A month with 10 claims or fewer costs nothing.

What it actually costs

The free 10 come off the top every month, so you only ever pay for claims 11 onwards.

Comparing us with the rest of the market? Most South African vendors do not publish a price at all, which makes that harder than it should be. We mapped the options in NetPractice alternatives, including where we are the wrong choice.

Because the price is per claim and not a subscription, your bill follows your actual month. That is the opposite of a percentage commission, which rises with your turnover, and of a per-seat licence, which charges you for staff rather than work. There is a fuller comparison of the three models in what medical billing costs in South Africa.

What the R9.50 includes

One price, the whole product. There is no tier that unlocks claims, reports or support.

  • Real-time medical-aid claim submission with the accepted, rejected or reversed outcome back in seconds, so a problem claim is a same-day fix rather than a month-end discovery.
  • Billing and statements - invoices, monthly statements and payment tracking generated for you.
  • Patients and visits - booking, visit capture and history in one place.
  • Scripts and clinical notes - prescriptions, sick notes and referral letters in a couple of clicks.
  • Reports that matter - aged debtors, daily collections, doctor performance, visit mix and turnover.
  • A South African support team that answers.

Optional add-ons are available if you want them, and you only ever pay for what you use. BankSwitch, which changes your practice banking details with every medical scheme, is one of them.

Allied practices: the tariff-code form differs by discipline, and getting it wrong is the most common cause of blanket rejections. See physiotherapy billing for how the 72-prefixed codes work.

Pricing questions

Is there a free version of NetPractice?

Yes. Your first 10 claims every month are free, on the full product - not a trial and not a reduced feature set. If you submit 10 or fewer claims in a month, that month costs you nothing.

What does medical billing software cost for a small practice?

On NetPractice a practice submitting 50 claims a month pays R380: the first 10 claims are free and the remaining 40 are R9.50 each. There is no monthly fee on top of that.

Are there setup fees, monthly fees or contracts?

No. There is no setup fee, no monthly subscription and no contract or minimum term. You pay R9.50 per claim beyond the first 10 in a month, and nothing else.

What happens in a quiet month?

You pay less, and if you submit 10 claims or fewer you pay nothing at all. Because the price is per claim rather than a subscription, a slow month, a holiday or leave costs you nothing.

Is the price per claim or per practitioner?

Per claim. Adding a practitioner, a receptionist or a second treating doctor does not change the price - only the number of claims you actually submit does.

How does per-claim pricing compare to a billing bureau taking a percentage?

A percentage commission rises with your turnover, so the better your month the more you pay. A flat R9.50 per claim does not move with the value of the claim. Which works out cheaper depends on your average claim value and volume.
